🏆 What to Expect from the 2025/26 Scottish Futsal Super League

Seven clubs. A brand-new playoff finish. A champion to be crowned the hard way.

The Scottish Futsal Super League 2025/26 kicks off with more storylines than ever: returning league winners, cup holders out to defend their crown, contenders sharpening their edge, and a new club stepping into the spotlight. This season won’t just be decided by who starts fast—it’ll reward squads that can handle pressure in best-of-three series at the business end.

The Contenders & Storylines

PYF Saltires – The benchmark

ree

Last year’s league was PYF’s masterclass—consistency, control, and goals. They fell short in the Scottish Cup final to Joga, a result that will sharpen their motivation. They’ve also just come back from European duty, flying the flag for Scotland—experience that usually pays off when games get tight.

  • Captain: Kyle Ballingall

  • Three words: Inclusive • Passionate • Respect

  • Goal song: Bits & Pieces

  • Socials: FB Perth Youth Saltires | IG @pyfsaltires | X @pyfsaltires

Futsal Escocia – Ready to climb one more rung

ree

A superb runner-up finish last season and one of the most stable projects in the league. Escocia are well-coached, tough to break down, and quietly confident that they can close the gap on PYF, especially with a playoff format that rewards prepared, repeatable performances.

  • Captain: Callum Husband

  • Three words: Full of potential

  • Goal song: Levels (Avicii)

  • Socials: FB Futsal Escocia | IG @Futsal_Escocia | X Futsal Escocia

Aberdeen Futsal Academy – The northern push

ree

Aberdeen spent long spells in the title conversation last season before dropping to third late on. That sting can be powerful fuel. Expect a direct, competitive style and a push for a top-two seeding to secure the home-court advantage in the playoffs.

  • Captain: Grant Campbell

  • Three words: Refreshed • Competitive • Direct

  • Goal song: I Predict A Riot

  • Socials: FB Aberdeen Futsal Academy

Joga Futsal – The cup kings aiming higher

ree

League position didn’t tell the whole story—Joga won the Scottish Cup, beating PYF in the final. Young, competitive and talented, they’ve proven they can win on the biggest domestic stage. With playoffs introduced, their big-game mentality becomes even more dangerous.

  • Three words: Young • Competitive • Talented

  • Goal song: Welcome to the Jungle

  • Socials: FB @jogafutsal | IG @Jogafutsalacademy | X @Jogafutsalacad

Futsal Club 33 – The upward curve

ree

FC33 showed bursts of quality last season and have the look of a team that can disrupt anyone on their day. If they turn narrow defeats into draws and wins, playoff talk won’t be far away.

  • Captain: Adam Fairweather

  • Three words: Passionate • Individual • Exciting

  • Goal song: All I Do Is Win

  • Socials: FB Futsal Club 33

University of Edinburgh – Young, evolving, fearless

ree

Results were hard to come by last season, but the desire is real and the pathway is clear: improve and learn from the best. With a youthful core, mindset matters—and incremental gains can snowball across a long campaign.

  • Captain: Zaim Liu

  • Three words: Young • Passionate • Love

  • Goal song: We Are Electric

  • Socials: IG @edinunifutsal

Dalkeith Thistle – The new face

ree

A fresh badge in the Super League, Dalkeith Thistle arrive with energy and ambition. The first objective is clear: compete every week and lay foundations that last. Upsets often come from newly-promoted or debut sides who play without baggage—circle their fixtures.

  • Captain: Kai Austin

  • Three words: Ambitious • United • Resilient

  • Goal song: All I Do Is Win

  • Socials: FB @Dalkeithcfc | IG @Dalkeiththistlecfc | X @Dalkeithcfc

Why the New Format Changes Everything

  • Margins get smaller. You’re not just racing to the top; you’re racing to a top-four finish.

  • Best-of-three rewards squads with depth, focus, and repeatable patterns—teams that can win Plan A and still adapt if Plan B is required.

  • Seeding matters. Finish higher, and you get two home legs in a series. With familiar courts and local support, that’s a real edge.

Key Dates (Save these)

  • Regular Season: 28 Sept → 1 Mar

  • Playoffs: March/April (best-of-three semis & final; #1 vs #4, #2 vs #3)

  • Scottish Cup: Semi-final 26 Apr • Final 7 Jun
