We hit the first weekend without Super League of the season with three matchdays in the books and storylines forming across Scotland. Below are three early takeaways—based on results so far—not predictions carved in stone. Use this as your quick catch-up before the league resumes on Sunday 2 November.
1) PYF Saltires still setting the pace—but margins are tighter
3 wins from 3 puts PYF Saltires on top, continuing the momentum from last year. What’s different is how competitive the league feels already: PYF have had to manage tense moments and close spells to get over the line. That’s healthy for the competition and a timely reminder that consistency—game management, rotations, and set-plays—will matter even more as the calendar gets busy.

2) Aberdeen & Joga look built to contend
Aberdeen Futsal Academy have shown serious attacking output in two big wins and remain within striking distance. Their directness and finishing depth stand out. The one defeat (a narrow one to Joga) looked like a high-level chess match more than a setback.
Joga are unbeaten and play with control and clarity. The Cup holders haven’t needed to be perfect to win; that’s usually a contender’s trait. With more minutes into the squad, their ceiling should rise.
Bottom line: both Aberdeen and Joga have the tools—goals, structure, and special-teams—to keep real pressure on PYF across the winter.

3) Dalkeith’s step up is real—growth mindset needed
Dalkeith Thistle are making their Super League debut and have faced three of the league’s most settled groups. Results haven’t gone their way yet, but first seasons are about learning speed, defensive spacing at futsal tempo, and set-piece habits under pressure. There’s talent and work-rate in the group; turning small improvements (rest-defence positions, subs timings) into points is the aim for the next block of games.

Golden Boot watch
Early leadership in the scoring charts reflects the front-runners’ fast starts. Expect movement once fixtures tighten and more clubs settle into rotations.

What’s Next?
