Dundee lead the way at the top of Super League 2023/24 thanks to five wins from five.

Chasing them down, however, are Aberdeen after they ended PYF Saltires’ long unbeaten league record with a remarkable comeback at Robert Gordon University.

Recent weeks have also seen a big win for Letham Santos and two draws for Edinburgh University as they got their first points on the board alongside TJ Slovak Lads.

Dundee 7-1 Edinburgh University

Edinburgh Uni travelled to DISC on the back of two straight draws aiming to keep their unbeaten run going.

However, hosts Dundee were in unforgiving mood as they took an early lead and dominated the rest of the contest.

The City of Discovery outfit came into the game in fine form after two hard-fought wins over Joga and Futsal Escocia.

And Kamil Kadela got them going with a quickfire double after six minutes. The Pole would grab a first-half hat-trick following an own goal as Dundee went in at the break 4-0 to the good.

There was little let-up in the second half with Faisal Ahmed’s strike on 25 minutes quickly followed by skipper Shaun Wilson finishing off a set-piece move.

Panos Trizoglou would add a seventh before Matteo Missier notched a consolation goal in the closing stages.

Victory sees Dundee open a six-point lead at the top while Edinburgh University remain on two points from their opening six matches.

Aberdeen 8-6 PYF Saltires

A mouthwatering clash between two of the title favourites didn’t disappoint.

PYF Saltires have won the title for the past four seasons and finished last term with a perfect league record. Aberdeen did the same in the regional competition but also lifted the Scottish Cup.

Their first meeting brought a feisty contest that swung one way and then the next with some missed penalties thrown in for good measure.

The first half saw domination from the league champions as PYF racked up a 4-1 lead.

Connor McLaren got things under way on 10 minutes, firing in from Kyle Ballingall’s lay-off.

Goals from Steven Laurie, Ross Cameron and a Scott Smith penalty would continue what was looking like a one-sided contest.

However, Jonathan Smith’s goal to make 4-1 on 18 minutes was a sign of things to come.

Grant Campbell smashed in for 4-2 before Max Alexander added another and suddenly it was 4-4 when Campbell bagged his second.

Saltires, however, jumped back in front as an incredible game ebbed and flowed – Scott Smith added his second after a flowing team move before Cameron made it 6-4 on 34 minutes.

Jonathan Smith quickly halved the deficit before things were turned around again thanks to Alexander and Callum Dunbar netting two quickfire Aberdeen goals.

Remarkably, Campbell then fired a penalty off both posts before Aberdeen cleared a PYF chance off the line with just one goal in it.

However, Owen Cairns would then seal a major victory for the north-east side as they continued their perfect start to their debut Super League campaign.

Saltires, meanwhile, remain level on nine points but have now played one game more and face leaders Dundee this coming weekend.

MD7

Matchday 7 saw plenty of goals flying in as the Super League headed to West Lothian College for the first time this season.

The first match of the afternoon saw the first draw of the season as Edinburgh University fought back against TJ Slovak Lads.

Slovak Lads led 2-0, 3-2 and 4-3 only for the students to level each time, Miguel Garcia Matas grabbing the final goal for a 4-4 draw.

That was followed by a big win on the road for Letham Santos as they defeated Galacticos 13-4.

The Perth side travelled to Livingston with a tight squad but came away with victory.

Scott Mollison was in fine form, hitting six goals, with Paul Simpson grabbing four in the final six minutes.

Monta Madjid struck three times for Galacticos.

MD8

The following weekend saw yet another draw at West Lothian College and once more Edinburgh University were in action.

This time it was the students being pegged back late on as Benjamin Willis Dodd fired in his third of the evening with two minutes left on the clock.

That was after Afonso Sousa had notched his own third on 36 minutes.

Perth College saw two more enticing Super League clashes as Futsal Escocia faced Dundee before a Perth derby between PYF Saltires and Letham Santos.

It was Dundee who came out on top against Escocia, Scott Milne once more shining. This time he fired in five of his side’s seven goals.

A fast start from the Tayside team saw them in control and finally running out 7-4 victors.

That was followed by a commanding victory for champions PYF against local rivals Santos.

Scott Smith and Connor McLaren each scored three times in the 9-0 win at Perth College.
