Futsal Escocia (blue) celebrate against TJ Slovak Lads.

The Scottish Futsal Super League 2023/24 kicked off with a glut of goals in Edinburgh.

There were victories for Sacachispas and Futsal Escocia with the smaller court at Oriam bringing plenty of goalmouth action.

Thirty-eight goals flew in across the two games with new boys Escocia racking up a big victory over TJ Slovak Lads while Sacachispas got the better of Edinburgh rivals Galacticos.

Sacachispas 14-6 Galacticos

The first match of the season brought a first goal after just four minutes with Cesar Coria Ramon weaving through the Galacticos defence to make it 1-0.

Guillermo Martin made it 1-1 three minutes later before it was 2-2 after eight minutes and then 3-3 on 13.

A flurry at the end of the first half put Sacachispas in control as they opened up a 7-3 lead with Sorlei on a hat-trick.

He would add a fourth after the break while Monta Madjid would net his own treble for Galacticos.

However, there was no catching their opponents with Sacachispas recording an impressive 14-6 victory.

That was outdone, however, by Futsal Escocia in the second game of the night.

A new side in the Super League after joining forces with FC Edina, Escocia showed their quality against last season’s seventh-placed outfit Slovak Lads.

The match was goal-less for the opening seven minutes with both sides sizing each other up.

A flurry of goals, though, put Escocia in control with Adam Prior, Caleb Holness, Chris Donnelly and Leon Keddie scoring four goals in three minutes.

And by half-time it was already 10-1.

Slovak Lads stemmed the flow of goals in the first 10 minutes of the second period with Martin Janik getting a goal back for 11-2.

But Escocia weren’t finished and added a further five goals with Holness finishing on four while Prior and Cameron Taylor each netted a hat-trick.

All four sides are back in action next Sunday with the rest of the division getting their campaigns under way with matches in both Edinburgh and Perth.
