Aberdeen Futsal Academy victorious in first Womens's Futsal Scottish Cup Final

Aberdeen Futsal Academy and Edinburgh International Futsal Club met on Saturday 26th April 2025 at Dundee International Sports Centre for the first ever Women’s Scottish Futsal Cup Final.
The match started at a fast pace with possession frequently changing between the 2 teams. Edinburgh took control very early on going 1-0 up within the 3rd minute. Chances fell to both sides with the goal keepers at both ends in action, 10 mins in and Edinburgh put the pressure on again. with a run of possession finishing with a 2nd goal crossed from the right and put away at the back post.
A change in tactics saw Aberdeen move up a gear to keep the action in the Edinburgh half. Aberdeen gained more control, their hard work finally paid off with Aberdeen scoring to make it 2-1 to Edinburgh at half time.
The 2nd half began with Aberdeen looking for the equaliser. An excellent long ball through the middle played by Considine was met by Campbell to make it 2-2 with 10 minutes remaining.
With the match all square both teams battled to take the lead.
In the last 5 minutes Aberdeen s hard work paid off again with Ferguson scoring to make it 3-2 to Aberdeen. The remaining minutes were an intense affair with Edinburgh fighting for their survival. In the final minute an excellent ball across the box couldn’t be cut out by Davidson and was met by a soaring run by the Edinburgh captain who sent it into the net to take her team to penalties. Full time ended 3-3.
It’s always a tough end to a match when it has to be decided on penalties. Both teams played their hearts out but at the end of the day there could only be one winner.
Aberdeen Futsal Academy won 4-2 on penalties.
